Monthly Sandbox Topics

Women In ConsultingDecember 1 Program Topic: Confidence in Leadership

  • Are you always confident you are leading in your best way?
  • What if your confidence is off right before an important meeting? Do you know how to get it back?
  • Do you feel confident to delegate or ask for support?
  • What is your biggest confidence issue?
Confidence is something we know we need, we often have and yet there are moments when it's missing. During this sandbox facilitated by Nicole Kleemann, we will discuss where confidence comes from, what are confidence boosters and takers, and what do we need to show up as our best selves.

Women In ConsultingNovember 3 Program Topic: Ageism Still Thriving? Let's talk about it!

In a recent article in Forbes titled “Gendered Ageism Is the New Sexism,” Cynthia Barnes says the following:

“Gendered ageism is real, and women over 40 feel the sting, especially when it comes to getting hired. Forbes reported, ‘Research shows that women are the primary victims of age discrimination in hiring, which means that women are driven out of the workplace earlier than men and have a much more difficult time finding a way back.’"

Have you been affected by gendered ageism in employment as either an employee or as an independent consultant? During our sessionfacilitated by Women In Consulting Member Sara Hart, PhD, coach, author and speaker from Hartcom, we’ll look at the ways gendered ageism affects women in and out of the working environment. We’ll explore ways we may be playing into this phenomenon through our own unconscious bias. Through discussion, breakouts, and exercises we’ll look at how we may have been affected, what we’ve done about it, times we haven’t done anything about it and why, and figure out what might be some steps we can take to make an impact against gendered ageism in the future.

Women In Consulting

September 1 Program Topic: Bring Fun & Engagement to Virtual Events

Sharyn Fitzpatrick, Marcom Gurus, will update everyone on the latest in tools and tips for engaging audiences in virtual events.

Come play with us! The Sandbox series focuses on member-to-member conversations with everyone sharing their experiences and a focused "demo" and hands-on opportunities.

Women In Consulting

July 7 Program Topic: re-entry, what's the impact?

Yes, we are starting re-entry — meeting up in person with customers, prospects, friends, family, and people. Some of our habits may be a little rusty — or forgotten. What are your stories? tips? How do we greet people now - handshake? elbow bump? just a hand wave? what’s working for you?

How has the pandemic impacted your life? Your business? Your customers? What does the "new normal" look like for you? Where are you succeeding? What are you struggling with?

In the WIC Community, we support each other's success and help each other with challenges. Join the conversation.

June 2 Program Topic: Notetaking Tools

If you are at all like me you have multiple notebooks, scraps of paper, back of envelopes ... so many different places where you take notes and then you might say "now where did I put that oh-so-important-and-interesting information?"

Having access to notes and thoughts no matter where we are...being able to record and organize these inspirations. How would that improve your business life, reducing stress and more.

Join us to discuss different notetaking tools.

Women In Consulting

May 5 Program Topic: Should you engage a Virtual Assistant (VA)?

Have you been wondering if you should engage a Virtual Assistant (VA)? Have you had a VA, but had a bad experience? Did you have a great experience that you would like to share?

All these questions and more will be discussed at the May 5th Sandbox session.

At some point in everyone’s business they realize that bandwidth is an issue; you can’t grow a business without having resources to assist as well as the time you need to design, complete and manage all the tasks that are part of your genius zone.

We will share resources for finding VAs in addition to worksheets to help you sketch out what tasks in your business could be delegated to a VA.

April 7 Program Topic: Zoom Refresh!

Since we last looked at Zoom a lot of features have been added or tweaked. Join us for a Zoom refresh.

Features we will highlight include

* Expanded breakout rooms functionality including enabling people to choose rooms at will
* Annotation & Whiteboard
* New video filters
* Zoom registration features

We will also play with ways to make Zoom meetings more interactive and fun.

March 3 Program Topic: Make Money While You Are Sleeping!

Have you thought about ways to leverage your expertise without direct face-to-face engagement or signed contracts? Several Women In Consulting members are already offering online courses with several more thinking about doing so.

During our March 2021 Sandbox, we will be exploring Learning Management Systems (LMS) — designed to manage online courses & videos, certification courses and trainings.

As with every Sandbox, we will have some general discussion about LMS’s, what people need, experiences they have had and then, as part of this exploration, Women In Consulting members Roberta Kiphuth and Norma Watenpaugh will show us what they’ve created using LearnDash – an LMS that also integrates with WordPress.

February 3 Program Topic: Help Us Build the Calendar for the Upcoming Months

The February Sandbox will be open discussion. Bring a question, a challenge, or a solution you have discovered. Leverage the Power of Community.

January 6 Program Topic: Knowledge Management

How do we, as consultants for organizations big and small, manage and leverage the knowledge, research, and resources that inform our work? How can we zero in on the right facts, tools, and experts that we need every day while honing our own ideas and improving the insights we deliver to our clients?

Our January Sandbox gives us all an opportunity to explore the challenges and benefits of knowledge management with other consultants. After some general discussion, WIC member Martha Olsen, a user of Airtable, will take us through a high-level demo of how this tool helps her manage knowledge and information resources within the Leap Group.
