There are many opportunities within WIC that need your special skills, energy, dedication, and enthusiasm. Please note: due to insurance guidelines, you must be a WIC full member to join a pro bono team.
The volunteer positions include:
Director: Board position that manages a team; 10-12 hours a month; one year commitment
Co-Chair: reports to the Director; 5-10 hours a month; one year commitment
Coordinator: assists the Co-Chairs; 2-4 hours a month; one year commitment
One-Time Project Help: works on special projects for a short-term commitment
Internet Marketing
Board Director: Avery Horzewski
Analytics Chair
- Anticipated time commitment: 4-6 hours per month
- Purpose: Manage analytics for WIC's online properties including the website and social media
- Responsibilities: implement measurement tools across WIC’s online properties (website, blog, social media and provide monthly reporting; develop analytics strategy
Marketing
Board Director: Melody Appleton
Designer
- Anticipated time commitment: 3-5 hours per month
- Purpose: provide a professional look to WIC marketing materials
- Responsibilities: design WIC marketing materials, such as flyers and PowerPoint slides, as needed for WIC marketing needs; maintain the WIC brand
PR Chair
- Anticipated time commitment: 5-10 hours per month
- Purpose: promote the value of WIC to the consulting and business communities
- Responsibilities: create rolling PR plan; outline and write press releases, help publicize WIC's various programs, manage the consultant case study program
Profile Coordinator
- Anticipated time commitment: 3-5 hours per month
- Purpose: highlight how WIC has helped WIC members
- Responsibilities: interview at least one WIC member each quarter and write profile for posting on the WIC website
Satellites Marketing Chair
- Anticipated time commitment: 5-10 hours per month
- Purpose: promote WIC satellite events
- Responsibilities: write marketing copy (email, flyer, and website) for WIC satellite events
Membership
Board Director: Kathie Sherman
Ambassadors
- Anticipated time commitment: 3 hours for each time; one meeting commitment
- Purpose: make first-time attendees feel welcome, ultimately increasing membership
- Responsibilities: be a guide during a WIC general monthly meeting for a first-time guests and follow up one week later
General Meeting Attendee Registrars
- Anticipated time commitment: 1 hour for each time; one meeting commitment
- Purpose: ensure smooth and friendly check-in process for attendees
- Responsibilities: check-in attendees to WIC general meetings
Satisfaction/Retention Chair
- Anticipated time commitment: 7-10 hours per month
- Purpose: increase member retention
- Responsibilities: follow up with members to increase member renewal, find out members' level of satisfaction with WIC, and identify what types of benefits (existing and new) serve their needs
Satisfaction/Retention Coordinator
- Anticipated time commitment: 1-2 hours per month
- Purpose: increase member retention
- Responsibilities: work on programs and initiatives with the Chair to increase member retention and satisfaction
Partnerships & Alliances
Board Director: Sue Hay
Communications Chair
- Anticipated time commitment: 2-3 hours per month
- Purpose: coordinate communications efforts between WIC and partners
- Responsibilities: develop communications strategy and implement plan to educate WIC members about partner benefits and announcing partnerships to external community; work closely with Marketing and Membership to coordinate efforts
Partnership Recruitment Co-Chairs
- Anticipated time commitment: 2-3 hours per month
- Purpose: recruit WIC partners (in-kind and paid)
- Responsibilities: sourcing, recruiting and negotiating new partner relationships for WIC, intitial promotion of new partners to the WIC Community and negotiation of annual renewals of existing partners with co-chair.
Partnership Relationship Co-Chairs
- Anticipated time commitment: 2-3 hours per month
- Purpose: manage the relationship with WIC partners (in-kind and paid)
- Responsibilities: coordinate managing the WIC partner relationships with co-chair to ensure WIC delivers on its contractual obligations, communicating news and events to partners, coordination of logistics for events and reporting on the success of the partnership
Programs
Board Director: Robin Pieracci
General Monthly Meeting Co-Chair
- Anticipated time commitment: 7-10 hours per month
- Purpose: provide networking and education opportunities to the general WIC membership on a monthly basis
- Responsibilities: co-manage the WIC monthly meeting program with one other co-chair, set topic direction, recruit and manage the speakers and speaker coordinators, and run the meeting for 5-6 general monthly meetings a year
Speaker Coordinators
- Anticipated time commitment: 15-20 hours per general event
- Purpose: help speakers be as successful as possible
- Responsibilities: each coordinator will manage all speaker associated tasks for one general meeting, including obtaining speaker topic and bio information, guiding the speaker to produce a WIC-worthy presentation, and managing the speaker the night of the event
Workshop Co-Chair
- Anticipated time commitment: 5-10 hours per month
- Purpose: provide in-depth education opportunities on a quarterly basis
- Responsibilities: co-manage the WIC quarterly workshops with 1 other co-chair, set topic direction, recruit and manage speakers, coordinate the event logistics, and run 2 workshops a year
Satellites
Board Director: Angel Rampy
Satellite Chairs for East Bay
- Anticipated time commitment: 5-10 hours per month
- Purpose: create an intimate community of WIC members and consultants to facilitate networking
- Responsibilities: manage the monthly satellite meeting with co-chair, handle logistics, recruit and manage speakers, and run events
Social Media
Board Director: Leilani Yau
Blog Coordinator
- Anticipated time commitment: 4-6 hours per month
- Purpose: lead WIC's blog strategy and manage blog day-to-day
- Responsibilities: develop and implement a blog content and promotion strategy; act as blog administrator; reach out to WIC bloggers and guest bloggers to ensure articles are posted as planned; write relevant blog articles for WIC community; explore viral ways to promote the blog; keep up to date with blogging best practices and WordPress capabilities and suggest changes as appropriate
Facebook Coordinator
- Anticipated time commitment: 4-6 hours per month
- Purpose: to keep the WIC Facebook pages engaging and up to date
- Responsibilities: manage the WIC Facebook presence, including updating the WIC and group pages, exploring viral ways to draw people to the pages, monitoring any discussions of WIC on Facebook, and developing a strategic plan to use the pages to build brand awareness for WIC, promote WIC events, and demonstrate WIC’s thought leadership
Twitter Coordinator
- Anticipated time commitment: 4-6 hours per month
- Purpose: to manage WIC's Twitter presence
- Responsibilities: manage WIC's day-to-day Twitter presence including tweeting about WIC events, WIC blog posts, relevant news and articles; explore ways to grow metrics including followers, re-tweets, and lists; develop a strategic plan to build WIC brand awareness and thought leadership
YouTube Coordinator
- Anticipated time commitment: 4-6 hours per month
- Purpose: to manage WIC's YouTube presence
- Responsibilities: manage WIC's YouTube presence including recording videos, identifying opportunities for videos, recruiting videos from WIC members, and exploring ways to promote the WIC YouTube and increase viewership
Stragegic Audiences
Board Director: Deb Siegle
Leaders Network Chairs (2)
- Anticipated time commitment: 8-10 hours per month
- Purpose: deliver and create value for Leaders Network group, members, and WIC
- Responsibilities: produce one program, rotating operational logicistics for quarterly meetings, work with members on an as-needed basis, identify and recruit new members, collaborate on ad hoc initiavites, as needed
