Women in Consulting to Hold Third Annual Silent Auction
Proceeds to Fund Non-Profit Wardrobe for Opportunity, WIC Educational Program
SAN MATEO, CA, October 10, 2005 - Women in Consulting (WIC), a San Francisco Bay Area umbrella organization of professional consultants, announced today it will be holding its Third Annual Silent Auction from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 20. Proceeds will help fund the
organization's non-profit mission including educational programs, workshops and seminars to help businesses and consultants in the Bay Area. The event will take place at the restaurant Michael's at
Shoreline in Mountain View and will be open to the general public.
WIC has chosen Wardrobe for Opportunity (www.wardrobe.org) to be the recipient of a percent of the 2005 Silent Auction proceeds. Wardrobe for Opportunity is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization that provides free professional clothing, image enhancement and career support to disadvantaged job seekers in the Bay Area. WIC will also be hosting a suit drive for men's and women's business attire at the event to benefit Wardrobe for Opportunity job seekers.
Nicole Levine, executive director for Wardrobe for Opportunity, will be the event's keynote speaker. With the theme "Planting the Seeds of Change," Nicole will share her thoughts on transforming the vision of Wardrobe for Opportunity into reality, as the organization has just celebrated its 10-year anniversary goal of dressing 10,000 clients and is preparing for the next decade of service. Wardrobe for Opportunity Client of the Year Ana Ronquillo will also be sharing her own success story at the event.
WIC is an organization of experienced professional consultants in more than 30 specialties, ranging from engineering to financial advising and marketing to web design. The organization was established in 1997 as a collaborative community to foster successful consulting practices and also hosts a no-fee searchable database to connect companies with over 200 of WIC's seasoned consultant members.
The Silent Auction will feature more than 75 personal and professional services, donated by WIC members and other Bay Area businesses. These include:
- Business and marketing: professional portraits, marketing consulting, accounting services;
- Essential business services: custom website design, writing services, computer tune-up and repair services;
- Personal & professional development: executive coaching;
- Networking opportunities: networking meetings with members of the venture capital community, mentoring sessions with Bay Area executives and successful consultants, martini and manicure gathering;
- Personal treats: Pilates lessons, handloomed scarves, pet sitting;
- Fun & entertainment: art, photography, jewelry.
"As an organization working with women to grow their consulting businesses, we wanted to donate to a partner organization that helped women prepare themselves for the workforce," remarked Deborah Henken, President of WIC. "We are delighted to find Wardrobe for Opportunity,
which complements our broader mission and provides such valuable services for both women and men in the Bay Area.¨
Registration fees for the benefit auction and buffet dinner are $40 in advance for members and affiliates or $50 at the door and for non-WIC members. For more information, registration and directions, please visit www.womeninconsulting.org.
