Women in Consulting to Hold Second Annual Silent Auction

Proceeds to Fund WIC Educational Programs, Help Member Consultants Achieve Maximum Business Success

SAN MATEO, CA, October 12, 2004 — Women in Consulting (WIC), a San Francisco Bay Area umbrella organization of professional consultants, announced today it will be holding its Second Annual Silent Auction from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 21. Proceeds will help fund the organization’s non-profit mission that includes educational programs, workshops and seminars to help businesses and consultants in the Bay Area. The event is open to the general public.

The Silent Auction will take place at the restaurant Michael’s at Shoreline in Mountain View. Kathy Yates, president and COO of CBS MarketWatch, Inc., will lead a keynote presentation on when in a company’s development it becomes critical to engage consultants and how these relationships can result in success and value for the business.

In addition to providing programs and services, WIC is active in community affairs such as its recent work with the Center for New Futures and Santa Clara University to help launch a Global Leadership Center at the university. WIC is an organization of experienced professional consultants in more than 30 specialties, ranging from engineering to financial advising and marketing to web design. The organization also provides a searchable database of all WIC members to aid companies in selecting and working with consultants.
The Silent Auction will feature nearly 100 items, both personal and professional services, donated by WIC members and other Bay Area businesses. These include:

  • Business and marketing: branding, marketing, business plan consulting
  • Essential business services: logo design, computer support, writing, legal services
  • Personal & professional development: finances, personality tests, career coaching
  • Networking opportunities: venture capital lunches, happy hours, fitness groups
  • Personal treats: massage & spa treatments, Pilates, gift baskets, salon services
  • Fun & entertainment: AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, SF Giants, kayaking, kids stuff

“This auction is a highly-anticipated and timely event designed to benefit consultants, businesses and the broader community that needs consulting expertise,” explained WIC President Deborah Henken. “We're pleased to have an active group of sponsors and donors contribute their energy as well as valuable auction items to ensure another successful evening this year and we look forward to hosting attendees from within the WIC organization as well as the general public."

The sponsors of the WIC auction include: Mahoney Printing, Jean Hope & Andrea Beasley-Jolly, AVE Consulting, Italia Global Marketing, Carlstrom Productions, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, RG Creations and Gamble Garden.
